Cristiano Ronaldo won't be receiving any payoff from Manchester United following his alleged contract termination with the club earlier.

Manchester United only wanted a clean slate to respect Cristiano's history at the club, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Manchester United terminated the 37-year-old star's contract by mutual consent after it was reported days ago that they were exploring the possibility.

The Portuguese striker will leave the Old Trafford club with immediate effect following his recent interview with Piers Morgan.

A club statement read: “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect”.

The club expresses their thanks to him for his incredible contributions across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring a total of 145 goals in 346 appearances for the Red Devils, and wishes him, his career and his family a perfect future.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under it's Dutch manager, Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”

Cristiano Ronaldo before the World Cup in Qatar said in his recent interview with Piers Morgan that he is blamed for all that has gone wrong at the club, with the Old Trafford outfit forcing him out of the club.

He added: “Yes, they [Manchester United] are trying to force me out out of the Team. Not only the coach [Ten Hag], but two or three other people around the club.

“I feel that some people didn’t want me at Manchester United, not only last year but this season too.

“The fans knows the truth that I want the very best for Manchester United. And that's why I came to the club.

“I am giving this interview, because I think it’s the right time for me to speak my mind.

“I felt betrayed. Honestly, I shouldn’t say that… but, listen, I don’t care, I’m always… People should listen to the truth.”

Ronaldo also added in his words that he loves Manchester United and the fans, but it’s the right time for him to seek a new challenge.

He said: “Following the recent conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract.

I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like now is the right time for me to seek a new challenge.

“I wish Manchester United success for the remainder of the season and for the future too.
